In Hindu Methodology water is worshiped in the name of 'Varuna Devta'. In Sikhism importance of water is marked in Shri Guru Granth Sahib (Holy Book of Sikhism) along with air and soil. Water of Ganga is considered as sacred. Goutam Budha discarded wordly pleasures in sheer disgust at human selfishness exhibited through struggle between two neighbouring kingdoms caused by a river water dispute. It is humanity's good fortune that such distress of mind caused to Budha ultimately resulted in a great benefit to the world by generating great massage of love and compassion which came to be known as Budhism. India, being the country, where water is worshiped parallel to Almighty, it seems unfortunate that our motherhood herself faces disputes over its waters. Inspite of all the respectable status attached to water, today, the river water disputes are becoming seeds of unending quarrels amongst the states. These inter-state river water disputes are affecting the integrity and unity of India. It is the irony of 'Punjab' that a state which is named because of significant river waters did present in it, is facing scarcity of water and struggling to retain the remaining of its 'Blue Gold'
