In her own words, Vera Haldy-Regier describes poetry as "music expressed in language-- the pulse, cadence, the melody that carries thought to a new plane. It is the laser beam seeking Center and Essence. Simply put, it is a portrait within a small frame, one that should sharpen insight and delight the ear, while tickling and prompting the brain. In writing poetry we can refine our thinking, find images to portray abstractions. We seek to create the light that filters through fog, the image that paints the thought." In this collection, encompassing twenty-nine of her poems, Vera Haldy-Regier embarks on an interior journey that grapples with deep and fundamental issues to which, we sense, she assigns the utmost importance. Throughout, nature has been the landscape that has served as balm and inspiration; her words display a reverence and awe that we instinctively grasp and are able to make our own. In a number of poems, nature is the metaphor and vehicle for reflections on the essence of Happiness, Contentment, Loss, Love, Kindness, Inner Peace, Divine Purpose, Courage and Faith. Readers not accustomed to reading poetry will be surprised to discover that these poems are indeed lucid "portraits within a small frame", a distillation of Essence that need not be elusive. Rather, they offer a sharp, clarifying focus on the issues that we need to examine in order to give shape and direction to our lives. Embark on this poet's inner journey and know that it will light your path.
