INSCAPEFrom the mind of Philip K. Dick
A made for TV Limited Series
In a post-apocalyptic world that forced US citizens to live underground, a daring spelunker will venture to find the source of a mysterious signal that can spell the end of all underground dwellers or be their salvation.
It's The 100 meets Westworld.
It's 2052. It's World War III: A world decimated by missiles carrying deadly viruses. There was no time for a vaccine, no time for immunity. The surface has become uninhabitable, forcing the remaining US population to flee underground into a massive, converted cavern in New Mexico known as the "Sanctuary." Remaining on the surface are Sentinel robots controlled by a master A.I. to fight the war. Reports are sent down to the Sanctuary with battle updates and robotic casualty numbers. Weapons are continually developed and improved inside the Sanctuary by humans and sent to the surface for the war effort.
This has been YAZZIE "YAZ" MASON's (26) home for 10 years. A rebel with a talent to get into trouble, Yaz lands in jail where she expresses her resentments to the current regime by covering the walls with graffiti. When an unknown signal is detected from deep in the caverns, followed by the enemy's sudden ability to penetrate the US surface shields, Yaz's mother, BERKELEY "BERK" MASON, a high-level Sanctuary official, recruits her daughter, the best spelunker she knows, for a daring mission to find the source of the signal. This is to be a highly secretive mission and could very well be the thing that saves the Americans from extinction by the enemy, known as Triad. The only other underground facility on the planet is controlled by the Triad.
Yaz sees this as an opportunity to try and locate her father, FRANK MASON, the man who taught her everything about cave exploring and who disappeared years ago. Frank was the chief architect of the Sanctuary but was not able to get underground when the bulkheads were closed at the start of the war. Berk thinks he's dead, but Yaz believes otherwise.
INSCAPE is a ten part limited series written in standard screenplay format. This is episode one of the series.
