Television in India has caused miracles in socio- cultural and political scenario but since its inception academicians have not recognized its potential as a serious stream of study. Despite all criticisms, television has become the reality of contemporary India. This change is obvious because television has touched and moved all sections of life during last two decades. Understanding of television as a powerful visual medium is required for analyzing the impact of television at subconscious level. The basic premise of this book is to provide readers a researcher's perspective so that a serious debate on the content and various issues related to Indian television can be generated. To analyze the present and foresee the future it's always necessary to go through the historical perspectives of any medium.
