Osteochondrosis is a group of disorders that occur in the immature skeleton and affect the processes, epiphyses and short bones. This disease arises from a disorder in the growth plate of a long bone caused mainly by ischemic cartilage necrosis. It is considered a benign, self-limiting ischemic disease. It has an unknown etiology. Clinical manifestations appear during or after high impact sports.
