An epic adventure awaits twenty-one-year-old Heather Cives when she finds herself in an unfamiliar world. With the help of a mysterious man named Vex and a magical humanoid named Glaedr, she must search for a way to travel from dark and damaged Sundar back to her home world of Ashara.

However, her experiences on Sundar open her eyes to the hidden corruption in Ashara, and she enlists the help of another magical humanoid, Ailis, to uncover the root of the shadow that is growing there. A startling discovery about Vex and another about her own father leave her already-changing world view in jeopardy as she and her friends work toward the same end in both worlds: putting a stop to the poisonous influence spreading throughout their homes.
