We were friends then. We were lovers. We were brothers in a decade known for its celebrations of peace and love, for its electric blues and acoustic folk protest, and for its euphoric, drug-induced highs. But the 1960s and early '70s also produced cults, paranoia, riots, Charles Manson and, in this true tale of a trio of comrades who lived and played in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of east Denver, dark nights of madness that culminated in a brutal early-morning rape. The youthful anthems of the day urged giving peace a chance and sympathizing with the devil, conflicting sentiments that abided side-by-side then, at Woodstock and at Altamont - and in Cheesman Park.
