A fundamental guide to understanding rap in all its complexities by one of the most relevant writers of the 20th century and his lucid college friend. This provocative and entertaining essay collection attempts to scrutinize the genre through the lens of sociology, economics, philosophy, and law by means of a back-and-forth exchange between the authors.
