I Wear Long Hair

Asher is in kindergarten and is full of life for a 5 year old! Asher has always had long hair but notices that the only other students with long hair in his class are girls. He loves his hair so much and would never cut it, but is starting to wonder if boys should have long hair? His hair makes him feel safe and warm on cold winter nights, a bit taller, and helps him hide when he is feeling shy. His favorite day of the week is hair day, when his Tia (aunt) washes and braids his hair. Concerned, he asks his mommy and daddy if he should even have long hair, being a boy and all! His parents explain to him that his long hair helps him be strong, brave, and different. Feeling more confident than ever, Asher goes to school and shows off his fresh braids and smiles proudly! He feels happy, strong, and brave. Although he feels a little different... he feels different in a good way.
