The Gospel of John follows Jesus on a journey that will take the disciples to God. Herein is the pattern for every pilgrim. In this textual and literary study, Philip Wesley Comfort traces the 'journey motif' around which John organized his account of Jesus' life, death, resurrection, and final days with his disciples. When Jesus says in John 14:6, 'I am the way, and the truth and the life,' modern disciples can see an immediate reference to his own journey from heaven to earth, and back to heaven.
