Pre-school education should be concerned, in the first place, with habits of cleanliness and personal hygiene, contributing to the care of one's own body and of the spaces in which daily life takes place and to the progressive autonomy of children, teachers have an excellent opportunity to encourage, stimulate and reinforce self-esteem, which is fundamental for the mental well-being of the child. In conclusion, hygiene habits are important for self-esteem, and it is therefore recommended that hygiene habits should be cultivated from the early years of childhood, when the child's personality is more permeable and the acquisition of health-related practices and habits can be done gradually.
