Beskrivelse
Rapid reduction in energy use is the only way to mitigate climate risk, however a rapid reduction in energy supply would be a disaster. Modern buildings, cities, and the entire economy would fail if coal, oil and gas supplies suddenly dropped by 80%. This dissonance between the problem and the possible actions can be referred to as a “wicked problem”. Transition engineering is an approach to give project managers and engineers the tools necessary to address energy use, sustainability and resilience in the design, development, construction and management of engineered systems. The book will support readers in the workplace as they approach and implement projects, by applying TE thinking to real problems, by providing a strategic combination of overview and detail about why TE has come into being and how the reader can use it to meet their needs for change. This will enable readers to:understand the background and fundamentals of the TE concept.use TE thinking as a real workable design and decision-making tool to actively make change happenuse TE thinking as a testing / proofing tool to assess and evaluate other proposals for change The reader will be able to use the content of the book to reach reasonable and justifiable judgements about which project proposals are going in the right direction or not.
