It's no secret that we live in a culture that romanticizes close relationships. From a young age, we are taught the importance of marriage. It is expressed through the 'happily ever after' endings in movies we consume, as well as the expectations of family, friends, and society. It's no surprise that so many of us struggle with the notion that if we don't date someone, we're missing out. However, being alone is not the same as being lonely. There are numerous advantages to flying solo, including the ability to spend your time more purposefully and to nurture your friendships.
