Holsingers Heartfelt Harmonies Book 1

Singer, Songwriter and Composer Susan I. Holsinger grew up in a singing family. She learned to sing 4-part gospel harmony at the age of 4 and sang the alto part until she got married. Her older sister sang soprano. After she got married she really missed singing with her family and dreamed of the day she would have children to sing with. This dream became a wonderful reality when Susan and her husband Philip were blessed with 6 children; Bethany, Carl, Helen, Keriann, Rochelle and Mark. In 2007 their daughter Keriann was working with their youth group on a Songbook for an upcoming Church Conference. She shared with her Mother that the theme was "The Father's Flock." Susan was folding laundry the next day when all of a sudden a song came to her mind with amazing clarity. This got her attention because it had never happened quite this way before. She was used to making up little ditties to sing to her children as they grew up but this was the first time a song had come to her like this. Susan realized this song was given to her to share with the youth at the Conference so she had someone help her get it notated on paper. Although Susan knew how to sing and read music, she did not know how to write it. As time passed, other songs started to come to her. Before long she found it difficult to remember all of them in her head and knew she was going to have to find a way to get them on paper. She purchased Sibelius First, a music notation software program, and started learning how to write music and get the songs on paper so others could sing them. The Lord sent several people to help her with this. As others learned the songs, they wanted copies of the sheet music. Susan realized a book of songs would be the best way to share them, since there were so many There are 60 songs in Holsingers Heartfelt Harmonies Book 1. 51 of them are her original compositions. Other Songbooks are planned according to God's will and timing. To aid people in learning the songs she has written, Susan and 3 of her children recorded a CD with 14 songs on it that is available now. The first song she wrote, "The Lord Is My Shepherd and I Am His Sheep" is the first song on the first CD. Other CD's are planned as well. Susan's children often laugh when she comments on a song she has written. She might say, "Oh, that song is so pretty, or, "I really like that song." They say, "duh, Mother, you wrote it " To which she replies, "I may have written the song and filled in the words and melody, but it is the Lord's song He is the One who gave it to me." Susan loves to write and sing the songs He sends and gets a glimpse of how big of an undertaking this is when He keeps sending more and more songs. She has discovered that His well never runs dry She currently has over 300 melodies waiting for words. Her and her children are working on CD #2. They plan to record all the songs in Songbook #1 and any future songs in future books. You can listen to songs on their first CD on their website.
