Johann Christian Friedrich Holderlin (1770-1843) was a major German lyric poet, commonly associated with Romanticism. Holderlin was also important in the development of German Idealism, particularly his philosophical influence on Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling.
