Taking history as a clue, this book is divided into the pre-Qin and two Han periods, the Wei, Jin, the Southern and Northern periods, the Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties. It describes the literary thoughts from the bud of Chinese literary thought to the late Tang and Five Dynasties, and analyzes in detail the characteristics and significance of literary thoughts in various periods of time, and sorts out the clues of literary thought in each stage, and strives to observe and clarify the true process of the emergence, development and change of literary thought from a macro perspective.
