Beskrivelse
This volume Histochemistry in Focus with subtitle A Sourcebook of Techniques and Research Needs, presents a broad array of histochemical techniques applicable to the study of the many cell and tissue types (e.g. neurosecretory cells and connective tissue) as well as to the constituents (e.g. nucleic acids and carbohydrates) that are present both in invertebrate and vertebrate organisms. Along with the appearance of the microscopes came the invention of several types of microtomes, including the ultramicrotome; and with this new "hardware" came the need to develop the many staining techniques described in this volume. The techniques described in this volume will find use not only in research laboratories where basic questions are being investigated, but also in medical and pathological laboratories where disease stages are being studied; and these techniques will help to provide a better understanding of the changes that bring about pathological conditions.
