The story revolves around Beth Ann and Jonathan after she takes a job at his magazine. She's strongly attracted to him but he's trapped in a dead marriage. He finds himself increasingly drawn to Beth and promotes her to a new position as his assistant. She's struggling under debts from her past and with her increasing desire for her married boss. When Jon's wife leaves him for her current lover, he feels himself rapidly approaching a 'line he should not cross'. Passions ignite after Jon manages to get his marriage annulled. Jon's wife is discovered murdered in Hawaii. He is forced to fly to Hawaii to identify the body. Just when they think they have a chance at happiness together, someone is out to permanently end their relationship for one or both of them.
