Transformers are passive components transferring electrical energy from one electrical circuit to another, without a conductive connection between the two circuits. They are used to change voltage levels and serve as isolation between circuits. Transformers are essential for the transmission, distribution, and utilization of electric power and are part of the grids that need to be modernised to accommodate rising shares of renewables.
