High Paraguai and the Swamps of Araguaia

The problem of Brazil is similar in nature to that of China. It is a very large state and a very old population, with great potential resources, huge forests and the largest river in the world. In the past it was important, for its gold mines, for the dye plant that gave it its name and for its sugar plantations, but Brazil does not end in the confines of the Amazon, but in the densely populated regions of the Mato Grosso and is transformed endlessly for the growth of the population to which it is necessary to provide what is necessary.This work, write for by the author in 1984, contains a detailed study of intervention and water and agricultural use in these two territories: * The plain of High Paraguai, which forms like a sea gulf between ancient massifs that has been filled over the ages.* The Araguaia, which is born in the mountains of Mato Grosso, and has a rough region about 500 kilometres long along the flood-covered river in the middle of the Brazilian plateau
