Jay lives in paradise. His little bed and breakfast vacation spot on Kauai, Hawaii, is a place that most of us only dream about visiting. But like most of us, Jay isn't immune to the desire for more-more action, more excitement, and more money. Luck knocks on Jay's door one day, and he opens it to find his buddy Stevy and a few other stock market guys. Turns out, they're here to offer him stock options in a startup, a dotcom company whose value is guaranteed to skyrocket. Jay finds the deal, the glamorous lifestyle, and the entire package infectious. So he invests his life savings and moves to Reno, Nevada, where the company is headquartered.

What he finds when he arrives is a seedy neighborhood, a bursting dotcom bubble, and a tourist economy sinking into a nationwide recession. Jay has to sell his bed and breakfast and take up gambling to make ends meet, while he tries to figure out how exactly he ended up in this mess and what in the world the future holds for him next...
