When Stephanie Farmer is paralyzed after fifth grade ends, she gets extra nervous about starting middle school in the fall. She had lots of friends in elementary school, but middle school is like a social pyramid, and Stephanie's on the bottom. Bullies start to tease her, writing her mean notes and even pushing her out of her wheelchair! Stephanie manages to find some new friends, and she discovers that the bottom of the pyramid may not be such a bad place after all. She writes a survival guide for middle schoolers along the way, and her steps to surviving middle school include: 1. Find your true friends. 2. Be yourself. 3. Don't let the haters bring you down!
