Herrschaft in Südosteuropa

This volume reflects the work results of a group of researchers from various academic disciplines and different countries applying the concept authority (Herrschaft) to Southeastern Europe. Up to now, there is no scholarly consensus upon how to define the Weberian term authority (Herrschaft), not to mention the difficulties to translate it into other languages. In essays written by specialists on Southeast European Studies, this volume opens a broad field of interpretation, examining various forms of authority in Southeast European countries. This cross-disciplinary volume includes contributions on charisma, patrimonialism, gender, violence, constitutional procedures and architecture, both historically and in the present.
