On February 21, 2011, on the eve of his 70th birthday, Arieh Herzog was on the American base," Point Mauge" when looked worriedly at the screens to his left. The customary countdown began and the 18th trial of the anti-missile system began and was successfully executed. This was the pinnacle of Arieh Herzog's involvement in Israel's defense system. Active Defense is the title of his book - which depicts the figure who grew alongside and within Israel's defense system - allowing him to develop and evolve within his field."I am thoroughly satisfied with my contribution to Israel's security, defense and alert system - an ability that did not exist previously. The feeling of vulnerability I had as a child will not have to be experienced by children today." Active Defense describes events and challenges in the realm of defense and security in which he was involved. The author takes us behind the scenes - to riveting and complicated events, as well as relations with America - which include situations fraught with misunderstandings due to cultural differences. As director of numerous, high level projects during the course of his career, Arieh Herzog shares a spectrum of creative and significant insights with his readers. His thinking is broad and takes into account a wide range of realities while remaining accessible and stimulating. It remains his deep pleasure to contribute to a new generation of engineers and leaders.
