Things are finally looking up for the 1940's band leader Jerry Michaels. With his lovely new wife, Lynne, by his side, he and his orchestra are offered a two-month tour across the Midwestern United States. But Jerry quickly discovers that, even during the best of times, life is full of decisions and challenges.

Should he put his college education on hold while he chases his dream of success in the music business? What about his new calling for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that causes him to wonder how he'll ever find enough time to serve?
