What enables children's learning? A key ingredient in children's learning is being actively engaged and fascinated by something that they are naturally drawn to. Children tend to be naturally drawn to animals, perhaps because they are so different from humans, or because of their unique behaviour.
In this book, children are drawn into the lives of various animals through the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. The use of alliteration encourages repetition of the sounds of each letter in a fun, light-hearted manner.
The language used is simple yet piques interest and motivates query by questioning minds. Furthermore, it is witty and whimsical, as are the accompanying scenes filling children's minds with whimsy and imagination and spurring further growth and learning.
The antics of the animals also stir children's senses of humour and wonder, further fuelling and expanding their emotions and feelings. Children's awareness and sensibilities are also awakened as they come to realize that animals are deserving of life and fun too.
