Guns, Mental Illness, and Jesus explores violence in America from its beginnings to the rampant gun violence against innocents today. The ready availability of guns is one issue, as is mental illness, and both need to be addressed in serious and effective ways. Those who hide their passion for liberal gun rights under the cloak of religion, particularly Christianity, however, need to be called out for what they are: deceivers and hypocrites. The life and teachings of Jesus are unwaveringly non-violent and do not support violent action against others in any way or for any reason. Guns, Mental Illness, and Jesus explains why we cannot claim ourselves to be serious followers of Jesus and also believe we have any right to commit violence against others for any reason, including in self-defense.
