Growth of Education in India (1951-2011): An Interstate Analysis

The present study explains multidimensional approaches of interstate analysis of different dimensions of educational growth in India. In this concept, the study consists ten chapters. Introduction about education is presented in chapter one. In chapter two, role of education in economic development is analyzed, Educational policies, schemes and Commissions in India is revealed in chapter three. Issues in development of Indian Educational system is explained in chapter four. Trends in interstate growth rates of population and literates in India are presented in chapter five. Interstate analysis on growth rates of educational institutions in India is presented in Chapter VI. Interstate analysis on growth of students in India is discussed in chapter seven. In this chapter the percentage of total students in the total population of the states also estimated. Interstate analysis on the growth rates of teachers in India is presented in chapter-VIII. The teacher - student ratio at every stage of the education is also estimated in this chapter. Interstate analysis of growth of expenditure on education in India is presented in Chapter-IX and Chapter ten reveals summary and suggestions.
