Beskrivelse

Fair Willow, Kansas 1954. Fictional small town America. The kind of town that the old folks of today remember from sitting in front of the television and watching old black and white sitcoms when they were children. Home of a simple man named Jim Bean, his lovely wife, their 3.5 kids, dog, and their friendly neighbors. The kind of place where people can walk the streets unmolested, where father knows best and "community" is not just a word. Come along as Jim helps his family solve their problems with words of wisdom and strong shoulders willing to carry the weight of the world if that's what it takes to see them smile. Will his first son win the basketball game and keep his grades up? Will his eldest daughter find true love? Will his adopted daughter, the amateur sleuth, find the secrets hidden in the old farm outside of town while his youngest son and a few friends attempts to retrieve stolen pirate treasure hidden in the park? Of course. With a slice of homemade pie waiting afterwards. But that's not all. This is Great America. The way it should have been. Not how it was. In this America and this 1954 everything is not exactly how the history books would have it or how the children of the time might remember. In Great America the past is a good as it should have been. With equality and tolerance. Without the rampant racism, sexism, bigotry, and exclusion. Jim and his family run up against not only the everyday difficulties but also the kind never even acknowledged or discussed on those old television shows because it was a different time and they made people uncomfortable and angry to even admit they existed. Using the same homegrown common sense, understanding, patience, and loving family care people in the real world wish they had growing up. The Beans navigate the world around them doing their best to accept everyone's differences and make an already amazing place just a little better for all. Because before the people of today can make America great once more, it would be nice to have one that was actually great for everyone in the first place. Just as an example. Welcome to Great America.
