Grassy Knoll

Fourteen-year-old Kate Gallagher is excited about the chance to see President and Mrs. Kennedy as they motorcade through downtown Dallas on November 22, 1963. With a promise to report back to her history class on what she sees, Kate joins her family on the grassy knoll as the presidential limousine approaches. Little did they realize they would be eyewitnesses to a brutal assassination that would rock the nation. In the aftermath of the tragedy, Kate and her family suffer a roller coaster of emotions as they watch the news coverage of the historic events following the shooting. Confused by the callous attitudes of many of her friends who did not support the president, Kate struggles with returning to school to face her friends. How could she report to her class? How could she convey the horror of what she witnessed when they seemed indifferent? Wasn't Kennedy everyone's president?
