Envisioning an End to Racism

- James 2:8a Racism is such an imbedded pattern in our cultures. And yet, that is not our Creator's desire, or beneficial to humankind and the increasingly global community. We must, somehow, come to an understanding of every human, and every culture, has great value we can all learn from. Though America has seen it's share of racist struggles throughout her history, it is clear that from the very beginning, the American forefathers envisioned a land where all peoples would have the right and benefit of living as equals in that great land. In the very Declaration of Independence, its preamble begins with these powerful words: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." While the first almost three centuries of America's history has included great struggles for racial, cultural, and gender equality (perhaps we'd write that as, all people are created equal in our modern times), the sentiment remains the same for almost three hundred years now. We all have worth, regardless of our skin color, cultural background, or any other measure. My hope is that this book will help you understand the forces that create racism wherever it is encountered, and that we will one day see a world united in it's shared humanity, and living lives that honor the purposes we have been created for. To love each other as much as we love our very selves. Let the ideas and formulas in this book guide you towards learning a new way of thinking. Let the formulas of truth spark new pathways of thinking and utilize all the teachings of this book to move you towards being a force for no future racism. And remember, you are never alone. God loves you and has created you uniquely. To love Him, and love and be loved by His people! As you work towards a more loving mindset towards others, remember that you are moving more perfectly into God's plan for your life, and the lives you encounter. To love and be loved. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." - 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
