When we were children, we didn't usually understand that the rules our parents laid down for us were born out of their love for us. What is true for parents is also true for God. The rules God has given to us, the Ten Commandments, are not only given to us because He loves us but also they are a transcript of His character. By obeying God's law, we begin the journey of becoming like Him.
The vast majority of people, Christian or not, will readily agree that some of the Ten Commandments are still valid-don't kill, don't steal, honor your parents, be faithful to your spouse. The majority of Christians acknowledge that nine of the Ten are still valid. But what about that other one-the fourth? Are we still obligated to keep the fourth commandment?
