The book has four sketches of Goa's foremost nationalist which give the reader a deeper insight into. Loyola's varied personality which he put to optimum use to win Goa's freedom. His writings themselves have been grouped into three parts dealing with topics like autonomy, the Legislative Council, the Army, the New Conquests, the Rural Credit Bank, taxation, Afonso de Albuquerque, the art of governing, emigration, moral decadence of the people, imports and exports of Portuguese India, increasing coconut production, the liquor industry, fictitious prosperity in Goa, gardens and emancipating women.
