Getting to Know God

This book is a journey of discovery into the fascinating world of Christian theology. Elisheva Mechanic begins an exploration into the question of what is theology and how do we do theology. She introduces some of the early Church Fathers and tells their stories and what contribution they made to the development of theology and the 'great tradition.' The role of faith and learning is discussed as well as the development of a living relationship with the God whose story we discover in the Biblical text and the history of Christianity that flows out of it. The transformation of life and practical action which must flow out of all of our learning and discovery is a central focus of this book. It is written to encourage reflection on the Scriptures and the contribution of God's people through history and our faith development at the same time.
