Beskrivelse
Georgia, a country in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia, is the birthplace of the Georgian Shepherd dog, also known as the Georgian Mountain Dog or Georgian Shepherd. Protecting sheep and cattle from wolves and bears is the primary function of these canines.
• Georgian Shepherd dogs are noted for their strength, courage, and protective qualities. These dogs are often huge and stout, with thick coats that protect them from the cold and snow of Georgia's mountains. These dogs are able to protect the livestock they are entrusted with because they are fiercely independent and have a high prey drive.
• The Georgian Shepherd dog is not widely known or recognized outside of Georgia, and it is not even recognized by the most prestigious international kennel groups. But in Georgia, it has a cultural and functional purpose as a protector of livestock in the country's highland regions.
