GBARAZHI: Histories of Some Emirates and Towns in KinNupe

This book is a collection of the detailed histories of some emirates and towns in KinNupe. This is another first of its kind. There is hardly any other book that have collected the histories of major Nupe emirates and towns together in one volume like this.More interesting is the fact that the history of each of the Nupe emirate or town featured in this book is narrated in such details that can hardly be gotten anywhere else.Furthermore, this is the first time an attempt is made at a 'decolonized' version of the histories of these Nupe Emirates and towns. All along all the historical account of these towns have been sketchy and brief histories garnered mostly from the inaccurate and biased historical records and gazetteers of Colonial scribes and resident officers in the 20th centuries. This book is the first deliberate break away from that Colonial practice. The major Nupe emirates featured in this book include those on both side of the River Niger, that is, in both Niger State and Kwara State. These include the Bida, Patigi, Agaie, Lafiagi, Lapai and Tsaragi Emirates. This is the first time the histories of each of these emirates is being told in exhaustive details.Not all the histories of all the Nupe Emirates in KinNupe have been treated in this first edition of this book. The plan is that the histories of more Nupe Emirates and more towns throughout KinNupe will gradually be added in subsequent editions in the future.
