Fundamental Biomechanics

This textbook describes the basic principles of Biomechanics. This book was originally published in the Japanese language andauthored by Prof. Yamamoto Sumiko, Prof. Ishii Shinichirou and Prof. Ehara Yoshihiro. The book illustrates in a detailed manner the characteristics of forces applied to human movement. It will be useful for academics and professionals in Allied Health Sciences such as: Physical Rehabilitation, Ergonomics, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Prosthetics / Orthotics and Sport Sciences. Little attention has been paid to the practical dissemination of Applied Biomechanics instruction in resource limited environments due to the high cost of laboratory equipment. This textbook utilizes computer graphics (available in PowerPoint version file) to comprehensively explain biomechanics of human motion such as normal gait, gait initiation, squatting, sit to stand movement, jumping and more. This simplified textbook will be an asset for Universities, professionals, researchers, students and those interested in motion analysis residing in both developed and resource limited environments.
