Clint Hawkins returned to his ranch in the mountains of Colorado knowing he had left his heart and the only woman he would ever love in New York. She was from wealth, high society, and he thought he was not worthy enough because he was only a cowboy, although he was full owner of a large ranch. Unknown to Clint, Elizabeth decided to visit her cousin, Cassie and her husband, Chase, who owned a ranch next to Clint's. She came for two purposes; one, to see if she could live in the solitude of the mountains; and, two, to let Clint know she did not want to be with anyone else. Meanwhile, trouble was brewing for Clint and Chase with a neighbor, Gerald Dunlap, who was using his ranch he recently purchased as a ruse for his brother, Darrell, who was stealing gold shipments and hiding the gold at the ranch. Darrell was ruthless and a vicious killer, and both brothers became a threat to both Clint and Chase as well as Elizabeth. US Marshal Clay McLane and Pinkerton Agent Dunk Bledsoe, both undercover, join Clint and his men, posing as cowboys, to uncover evidence of the stolen gold at Gerald Dunlap's ranch without bringing danger to anyone. Gerald tried to impress Elizabeth, thinking she was too beautiful and refined to be a rancher's wife, but when rebuffed by Elizabeth, he decided that if he could eliminate Clint, she would come to him more willingly. Will he succeed in his plans?
