Beskrivelse
From 1939 until 1944 Basil Leonard Doyle, known as Len, wrote to his sweetheart, Lilian Smith, from the East End of London to the West. It is assumed Lil wrote back, but, alas, those letters are no more. As The Blitz raged over their heads, the two young lovers continued to work and make plans to meet, 'Hitler permitting'. With over seventy letters and postcards, we follow Len and Lil from their first meeting in early 1939 until their marriage in September 1944. One final letter was written in May 1949 immediately after the birth of Len and Lil's son, Mike. These letters were found by Mike inside a Terry's chocolate box which had been delivered with the note; 'From Len to Lil With Love and a Lick'.
