This book is the true story of Major Clifford Cole who was flying as a co-pilot on an ill fated B-17 "Flying Fortress" when it was shot down over Germany on August 12, 1943. Three of the flight crew had been killed on the plane, but the remaining crew were able to bail out before the plane exploded.
