Beskrivelse
Take some of the classic grand prix tracks, such as Monaco, Spa, Zandvoort, Imola, and Silverstone and use historic photos paired with the same viewpoint today to show how dramatically the sport has changed. In the 1950s, all that prevented cars from entering Monaco Harbour were some straw bales, there was no pitlane, and races weren't stopped for burning cars. There are match-ups of well-known current circuits, such as Monaco and Spa, along with famous tracks that are currently 'race fit' but off the calendar, such as Hockenheim and Nurburgring, and also circuits that will never run an F1 race again and have been swallowed up by nature, such as Rouen and Reims. There are match-ups that show what the street circuit looks like in 'civilian clothing' - Baku, and Albert Park. The match-ups will help introduce historic aspects of F1 - for example Montju?c Park, the site of the former Barcelona Grand Prix, illustrates what can happen when the tech gets out of control, with two cataclysmic failures of the high aerofoil wings over the bumpy surface, dumping Graham Hill and Jochen Rindt into the barriers at the same spot. There are also great photos of the women drivers of F1, Maria de Filippis, Lella Lombardi (both Italy) and Desire Wilson (South Africa) who has a grandstand at Brands Hatch named after her.
