Lora Winters caught her boyfriend having an affair with his secretary. In and effort to get away from him and think about their relationship, she headed for her grandfather's ranch in the foothills above Denver. With wet roads from an evening shower, rain on her windshield, and tears in her eyes, she lost control of her car on a curve and slid into a canyon. Mark Howard found Lora lying under a tree next to his driveway. She was cold, wet and injured. He took her to his ranch house and cared for her until she could be taken to a hospital.
