Emily Steele has been given one month by her father to find a husband. If she fails she will have to decide to either marry Drayson Collard her father's business partner or give up her inheritance. Despite the fact they are living in the twenty first century some things still hold true in the South. Emily has been raised for one purpose only, to marry into a family that will add to her father's power and wealth. Only once did she allow herself the folly of falling in love to someone her father didn't approve of. That was when she learned that her father's money could buy anything, including the man who loved her. When her father gave him the choice of her hand in marriage minus the inheritance or a fat check her dashing lover never looked back on his way to the bank. Trent Birmingham never had a problem finding a woman to warm his bed. With his tall muscular build, sandy brown hair and piercing blue eyes women gravitated to him. He had loved once and vowed never again. His heart had been ripped in half when he walked in on his fianc and best friend in bed together two weeks before the wedding. To add to his humiliation the two had been having an affair behind his back for nearly a year. Trent would never allow another woman to take advantage of him again. He was upfront whenever he slept with a woman offering them no delusions that it might lead beyond the enjoyment of each other's bodies. When Emily approached him with her offer to marry her in name only she expected him to refuse. She would give him a portion of her inheritance and he could claim the prize money from the wager. She was surprised but no more than he was when he accepted. Only once their game of deception began did Emily realize the danger she was in of losing her heart to a man who was only interested in her money.
