The Holy Spirit that is given to us as followers of Jesus, which we celebrate on Pentecost, is like an oasis in the desert. It is a welcome sight to be sure, but there is much we do not understand about its mystery. David Kalas has written For Those Who Have Run Dry to assist us in quenching our thirst for the Holy Spirit; encouraging us to embrace this gift from God.
By ourselves, human beings are finite. But the empowering nature of the Spirit allows us to proclaim, such as Paul did to the church in Philippi: "I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
By taking a closer look at Jesus' ministry on Earth and observing how the Spirit helped Him and the disciples spread the Word of God, we can further understand how the Spirit works in our lives, seeking out those who long to satisfy their thirst at the oasis of the Spirit.
