If you want to be a star, people have to know who you are. In 1954, Jean Bennett began a newsletter she called the Personality Plugger as the "mouthpiece" for her public relations firm, Personality Promotions. In 1954 five hundred copies were typed, copied, folded, stuffed and mailed to disc jockeys and record promoters around the country every month. Today the Plugger is distributed with the click of a finger on the computer to thousands around the world. Collected here, from the files of Personality, are the Pluggers that have survived the last 60 years. They promote artists from Liberace, Lawrence Welk, and The Platters to the Las Vegas Entertainers Hall of Fame. It's entertainment history
