Thrown into the role of nursemaid and mother to her younger sister, nine year old Meggin isn't given much opportunity to be a child. When I was young I played children's games, My favorite was hopscotch. I never had any chalk but I discovered that I could make faint lines on the concrete with rocks, if I press hard enough. Most of the time I played by myself; sometimes my sister Annie would play with me-if she wasn't playing with her dolls.
There were days I would play that damn game over and over hoping to get good enough for someone to take notice, Maybe one of the neighborhood kids would be watching and admire how good I was. But that never work-no one cared about what I did except my sister Annie.
My mother was never home, Annie and I were left to raise ourselves, Actually I raised Annie, at the age of nine I should have been kid but instead I was grown-up. I was more of a grown-ip than my mother-if you could call her that
