Beskrivelse
This book provides a detailed account of the varying theatrical activities on the Mexican-American stage in Texas and the culture of the Mexican-Americans involved. Ramirez reveals previously unknown data about the nature of Spanish-language theatre companies, their repertoire, their audiences, and the importance of what was essentially a -movement- of Mexican and Mexican-American troupes that toured from Mexico to Texas during the latter part of the nineteenth century through their demise in 1935. Ramirez focuses on the troupes' travels and residences in Texas through an analysis of significant representative companies."
