Framed around the reminiscences of Irish fishermen, this study examines the transformation undergone by the industry over the past six decades. The men recall the effects of Ireland’s EU membership in 1972, the impact of new technology, and the replacement of coastal day fishing with offshore fishing, which requires days at sea in larger boats.
