Humorous short story about life in Russia after the Fall of CommunismWhile I resided in Moscow, there were several examples of elderly people living in attractive flats, who hadn’t got any close family, who suddenly disappeared or were found killed. Strangely enough, their flats were taken over by some mobsters. In this short story, we are introduced to the pensioner Lydia Ivanovna who suddenly finds herself in a very dangerous situation.During 1993-1997 I lived in Moscow. The Danish company, Dandy A/S, had asked me to establish a subsidiary there and be CEO for it. The subsidiary was responsible for sales, marketing and distribution of the chewing gum brands Stimorol and Dirol in Russia. I kept a diary during most of my stay there. My experience there inspired me to write a handful of short stories about the chaotic Russian life and the many very different Russian individual destinies. The short stories are written from a humorous angle based on the many paradoxes, that were preconditions for the citizens. For various reasons, I never had the short stories published, and for 20 years they have been lying in my drawer. But now, I have decided to publish them.
