Conversations about politics often do not end well. The political divide can be enormous. Uelmen provides ways to close the gaps and inspires the reader to seek understanding despite political differences. The 5 Steps provoke the right questions and establish parameters that can produce positive action rather than simultaneous monologues in the family, church, community, or town hall meeting. The five insights are clarified with "real-life" examples:(1) Believe it is possible to have a positive vision of politics; (2) Practice and refine communication skills based on love; (3) Understand where there is and is not room for compromise; (4) Recognize suffering as a springboard for love; and (5) Build the "polis" with constructive action. The results achieved by following these steps may be a hopeful sign that the polarization dividing communities, churches, and nations can be bridged.
